With the new silks our horses often wear blinker (or blinder) hoods, but not always. I have been wondering why that is and thought I should tap the analytic minds of ASR.

Does anyone have any idea what triggers their use or non-use? Anyone noticed a pattern?

My current theory is that it has something to do with the early speed setting, but I have not gathered any data to prove of disprove that.

I would love to hear others' ideas.

I do believe that I read somewhere that the blinker usage is random. I like to think that this will become a feature in the game where you can add or remove blinkers. Did you horse with blinkers have more early speed?

Nope. Often my horses with blinkers were those with the lowest early speed settings.

There doesn't seem to be any evidence of cups in the blinker hoods so probably just for show.

I agree, they would make an interesting additional option, especially if the cup depth and which size over which eye is included like they are in RL

Blinkers is an obvious addition for Mike... I am sure we are going to get them some time in the not so distant future. Would love to see some for of jockey feed back as well but who know what he has up his sleeve.
